English is the language I express myself in much better now but there are some beautiful words and expressions in Albanian that have no equivalent in English. One of them is 'për t'u dhimbsur', which roughly translated means 'to feel sorry for' but the root of it is 'dhimbje' which means 'pain'... so when you say 'Mu dhim't' (in our Peja dialect) it means much more than 'I feel sorry for her/him'; it implies that you can feel their pain, not just feeling sorry...
Other features of Albanian without an equivalent in in English are special verb moods that express desires/wishes/hopes and another one expresses surprises or things you didn't expect to happen... when you say 'Rrofsh jetë të gjatë dhe të lumtur' - the verb inflection tells you it is a wish or desire .., you don't have to add 'may' as in 'May you live a long and happy life' #shqiptarpëjetë 🇦🇱❤️
