Turned on the radio as the overrated national treasure, Stephen Fry, was talking about 'the first epistle of St Paul to the Zimbabweans started with the word Camel' - well it would be, wouldn't it. Surely they are not able to talk about anything else? So annoyed I missed it so not sure what that was all about.
My theory about the quiet abut persistent haughtiness of certain people un the UK is rooted in inequality and knowing one's place. However, it was easier to accept this fate if you convinced yourself that you are blessed to be British. Never mind the bad quality housing, overpriced transport, overpriced services, inacceble legal assistance, etc... it is so much easier to believe in a fantasy than accept that your life is shit and is probably going to stay that way. Period costume dramas are an important ingredient of perpetuating the fantasy. I can't bear them.
UK is great in a lot of things but superior it isn't. No one is ...
desolé
