I've been glued to BBC sounds all day listening to an excellent series - The Coming Storm, which takes a deep dive into outlandish conspiracy theories that seem to have gripped America at all levels of its national life but especially positics.
It is simply astonishing what people seem to be prepared to believe in! It now seems that we are saturated with information and media, we are losing the ability to tell reality from fantasy! I believe most of these totally crazy people are not evil, stupid or weird loners; A lot of them firmly believe in all kinds of fantastical stories and have genuine concerns about the future of our society, yet I can't help but feel frustrated that they seem to have simply stopped thinking logically!
This is truly dangerous stuff! Having so many people believing all sorts of mad beliefs cannot be good. It must be said that most of these insane stories are constantly generated by right wing ideologies and fears that usually have no relation to facts!
