Why does it hurt so much more in Kosovo? Why are we so much more sensitive in the country of our birth, even after living elsewhere longer... it is a mystery I hope I will understand one day? Identity is a strange thing, no doubt, but I think the relationship we have with 'our' country is of the most peculiar sort... everywhere I've been, people have displayed strong feelings of both love and hate towards their birth countries and their people! Is it because they confine us to rules we don't apply on others, perhaps? Is it because we are meant to be good sons and daughters of the 'motherland' even when she pisses us off? Is it because we feel less free, less able to be ourselves in the country in which we are meant to belong? Maybe it is all those things .. maybe none...
