Amid this tawdry gushing of all kinds that her late Majesty wouldn't like much, let's not forget about thousands of people who die alone in care homes across the country but let's also remember that QE2 was in so many ways a prisoner of a nation’s fantasy of itself. She was kept in a gilded cage, never being allowed to express an opinion. I don't call this love and respect, I call it an anachronism that keeps England stuck in the 13th century. RIP Your Majesty, you are finally free from the fantasists, nationalists and creeps of all kinds.
